Plumbing Trenches

As usual Mel popped around after dropping off the girls at school and found the plumber and his earth-moving equipment had been busy digging the trenches for the sewage and storm water drains.

It seems the plumber had decided to ignore the builder's "suggested" plumbing plans and chart his own course across our courtyard and backyard toward the manholes.  Well, this will limit our choice of locations if we ever want to put a pool in at some point in the future.  Nevermind, pipes can always be re-located if we win the lotto.

Also, we'd have to assume the slab has now cured as the plumber was driving heavy machinery all over the slab to dig the trenches (no sign of cracks - so it must be as hard as concrete after 1 week)

Mel's artwork showing the approximate location of the actual pipes

I guess we won't ever be putting a pool in this corner of the yard

What's that pipe sticking up out of the ground in our backyard

At least this pipe was the same as it was drawn on the "suggested" plan

Our courtyard dissected by pipes - this wasn't how it was drawn on the "suggested" plan

  2. Yes, I went and took more photos, a video and measurements of where the pipes are today before they fill in the trenches.

Like you say, now I know where the pipes are so that we can take this into consideration whenever we want to dig around the yard.
